Medical Conditions that would prevent you from being an egg donor

If you or your immediate family suffers from one of the following serious medical conditions, you might not be able to donate. Please check with one of the Nurture team (info@nurture.co.za) before completing the application form:

  • Acne Medication (like Roaccutane)
  • Aids / HIV
  • Allergic reactions to anaesthesia
  • Antiphoshpolipids syndrome
  • Autosomal Dominant Policystic Kidney Disease
  • Bell’s palsey in donor or parent
  • Bi-Polar
  • Crohns Disease
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Deaf
  • Serious Medical Depression
  • Epilepsy
  • Glaucoma
  • Haemophilia/bleeding disorder
  • Hepatitis (B or C)
  • Hip displacia
  • Hyperhydrosis
  • Immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency (SIgAD)
  • Kerotokonus
  • Kidney disease or where one has been removed
  • Leukemia
  • Lupus in donor herself
  • Malignant Hyperthermia
  • Motor Neurone Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Only one ovary
  • Polydactly
  • Porphyria
  • Porthyria varigata
  • Protein C Deficiency
  • Psoriasis
  • Certain psychiatric medication
  • Raynaud’s disease
  • Reactive hypoglycaemia
  • Retinitis Pigmantosa
  • Rheunatic Valve Heart Disease
  • Schizophrenia
  • Scoliosis of the Spine
  • Turners Mosaic Syndrome
  • Von Weillibrands disease (a blood clotting disorder)
